AGAVE WINS
TOP cHOCOLATIER
The first annual Ptbo Hot Chocolate Fest featured 15 over-the-top hot chocolate creations, hand crafted by downtown: chocolatiers, bakeries, cafes, and restaurants. Cocoa creations were available to the public for both dine-in and takeout.
Over the course of our 10-day festival the community rallied in support of the competition casting well over 1k votes to determine the Boro's 1st ever Top Chocolatier.
In the end, it was one of the newest downtown restaurants that stole the heart and sweet tooth of festivalgoers. Agave by Imperial’s Hot Churro-late claimed first place as Top Chocolatier with their thick and creamy authentic Mexican hot chocolate.
Second favourite was a charming Bubble Pudding Chocolate made by Milk + Tea, followed by SpeakEasy’s Breakfast of Chocolate.
“We are so grateful to have won Top Hot Chocolatier with our authentic Mexican entry. Chef Pablo Olvera and I worked on the recipe together, and we are really proud of the recipe. In Mexico hot chocolate is part of our culture, it's part of our everyday life. We love that this festival allowed us to bring a bit of Mexico to Peterborough,” says Jennifer Gutierrez, Chef at Agave by Imperial.
As this year’s winner, Agave will receive a Hot Chocolate themed trophy, and of course bragging rights for the year.
